Search

The Search function is used if information cannot be found by using either A-Z Agencies or A-Z Services. It enables you to search for specific words, phrases or numbers in any combination, anywhere in the database.

To carry out a search, enter your search terms in the Search for box.

When your search command consists of more than one word, enclose your text with double quotes - eg "text here" - to ensure that the exact phrase is retrieved.

You can search for different words that start with the same letters. Type the first part of that word followed by an asterisk (*). For example apprentice* will retrieve every occurrence of the words apprentice, apprentices, apprenticeship and apprenticeships.

Search terms can be combined using the operators AND, OR, AND NOT. For example:

Dogs OR cats

will retrieve every document that contains either word or both words

Dogs AND cats

will retrieve every document that contains both words

Dogs AND NOT cats

will retrieve every document that contains the word 'dogs', but will eliminate documents that include both words

Click on the Search button to activate your search.

Before you do another search you can delete the previous search text by clicking the Clear button or by selecting the text and pressing Delete on the keyboard.

NOTE: The search option enables you to undertake specific and complex searches of the database. However, broad search commands may retrieve a large amount of unwanted information, so you should construct your commands carefully.
